Offline ...Online
OffLine is an American arts organisation and public access cable program featuring work by independent and experimental artists. This includes animation, music video, performance, documentary and more. As mentioned on the Web site: "OffLine's producers encourage creative strategies to video and film and seriously consider all submissions".
Recently, OffLine launched an online gallery. The layout of the site leans heavily on the traditional 'lobby' and 'elevator' style of navigation to various areas of the site. One might hope that the site's references to real-life metaphors also extended to the plain white of gallery walls.
Nonetheless, it's worth a visit to see the Free Speech TV collaborations - video interviews with Phillip Glass, Flava Flav (Public Enemy), and a rap-umentary about imprisoned journalist, Mumia Abu Jamal. Photography, painting and digital works are also exhibited, and OffLine will soon be calling for original and unusual art projects.
