Domains For One and All
The International Telecommunications Union (ITU) announced at the end of their annual conference in Geneva, unanimous support for the addition of five new domains. .arts, .firm, .info, .nom, .rec, .store and .web will join the five current, top Internet domains: .com, .org, .net, .gov and .edu.
The new domains will be available once new registrars, 28 distributed over the seven main regions of the world, have been approved. These are expected to be announced by the end of this year.
There is no shortage of controversy surrounding these new domains as well as the escalating costs of delegation. Satellite Dispatch will bring you an overview of the key issues as they come to hand. |
