Minutes: Meeting with EngageMedia
MMS development and implementation
It was agreed that the addition of assets such as still image and sound uploads would be possible in the overall scheme of the EngageMedia (EM) server.
Group logins possible. This means we can have an SU Seoul and SU Melbourne group.
ACTION
- AG to define with of the AU and KR licenses will be used on the SU groups on the EM server.
- A EM/SU workshop will be held Friday 2 September at OPENChannel. Details to be forwarded to the SU developers mailing list.
MMS funding requirements
The Australia Council grant, should it come through, will provide a
budget for:
- MMS gateway development
- Some technical developer time
- Interface design
- Interface design implementation
ACTION
- Letters of support from c2o/Toy Satellite to EM to assist in their own fund-raising.
- Anna to send AG copy of EM budget.
Collaboration with Jinbonet re: bi-lingual interface
Clarified roles and as soon as feasible, will provide Jinbonet with access to the EM development server. This will give them an idea of the interface components, although final fields and descriptors are yet to be ratified.
ACTION
- Communication between Jinbonet and EM developers should commence sooner than later.
TS/c2o involvement in development
c2o/Toy Satellite will provide interface design and implementation of that design to the Media Upload Server (MUS).
If required, technical assistance in overall development of the MUS will be available, funds permitting.
Server load/storage share may also be possible and will be investigated.
ACTION
- Discuss with c2o/Toy Satellite prior to workshop.
Other collaborations
AG discussed benefits of EM to broader online content delivery opportunities for OPENChannel (OC). Introduced possible uses for EM at OPENChannel, as well as other Screen Development Agencies in Australia. If project development partnership with OC is possible, access to tenancy services may be possible.
ACTION
- AG to present proposal to OC Board on Monday, 29 Aug.
- AG to also introduce EM to broader APC membership with a view to development of the full multi-lingual interface project. In addition, AG to investigate whether MMS gateway development can be supported, in part, under the APC Toolkit project.
- AG to enquire from APC if any resources available to support Andy's attendance at Plone conference in Vienna. He is currently in Croatia. Will require acknowledgement of our involvement in project from EM, at least represented on site as project partner.
