Synesthesia Urbania

Project objectives

  • Collaboration between Australian and Korean sound and video artists.
  • Design and production of a performance based on real-time composition of sound and screen non-linear narrative.
  • Melbourne and Seoul Derives: photos and video clips gathered utilising Derive algorithm.
  • Design and production of scale representation of Melbourne and Seoul - the SU Mesh, a 3D interactive performance engine. GPS coordinates enable photos and clips to be appended to the Mesh approximating their location of origin (note: Mesh may have to be compressed in scale to reduce incidence of vast distances between waypoint locations).
  • All assets available under respective Creative Commons licenses.
  • Promotion of respective licenses - Open Access Licensing in Korea and Creative Commons.au in Australia.
  • Partner with EngageMedia towards the development of their video upload server to support Korean and English interface, photo upload, Korean Open Access Licenses, and MMS gateway.
  • Development of an open source MMS gateway to be made available to Jinbonet, APC partners and other non-profit projects and organisations.
  • Documentation of entire process for eventual release on DVD documenting lineage of sound and screen performance works from Toy Satellite.
