In San Francisco, some cafes are linked by a system called sfnet. I sat four hours at these machines, telnetting in to my Pegasus account to read mail and reply to folx back in Oz. You sit down and insert coins into a slot. You can log on to local cafe chat and conference subjects, or access the internet. As they say in California, "way cool". 3
